On the nights of August 10th and 11th, come to OLA and follow the Perseids Meteor Shower.

The Perseids Meteor Shower is one of the most awaited astronomical events of the year. The phenomenon that enriches hot summer nights happens because around this time Earth is crossing the debris trail left by the Swift-Tuttle comet. Each time one of these tiny debris enters Earth’s atmosphere, we observe a shooting star (meteor).

This year the Perseids take place during ideal observing conditions, with the New Moon occurring on the 11th of August. On these nights, OLA will have the normal stargazing session from 21h30 until 00h00. Afterwards the unaided eye observations will proceed through the night. The telescopes will remain available until 02h00 for observation of other objects during the night.

Bring with you a jacket and either a blanket or a yoga mattress, and come learn more about Perseids and the Universe while you watch this natural show with us. It is possible to stay overnight as there is a camping area with bathrooms available.

Normal session prices apply. Check here. Participants with telescope have free entry.
