The Geminid Meteor Shower, like the Perseus Meteor Shower, is one of the most anticipated events of the year due to the intensity, brightness and colour of the meteors.
- Time interval: 19th of November to 24th of December
- Peak Intensity: 13-14 of December
- Lunar Phase during Peak: 1% Full
- Zenith Hourly Rate: 150 events/hour
Unlike other major showers, the Geminids don’t originate from a Comet but in fact come from the debris of an Asteroid, 3200 Phaethon. The name Geminids come from the constellation the meteors appear to radiate from, Gemini.
