Perseus Meteor Shower

Every year in August our planet intercepts the orbit of Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. This region of the solar system is populated by debris from the comet itself that is intercepted by our planet thus creating the most famous light show of the year.

  • Peak Intensity [PI]: 12 – 13th of August
  • Lunar State during PI: 10% Full
  • Incidence Rate during [PI]: 50-70 events/hour
  • Velocity: 59km/s

Year 2023 will be an amazing year for this event given its proximity to the date of the new moon on August 16th.
